Help us to celebrate 100 years of community in the spring of 2010!

A particular interest and focus for our 2009-2010 school year will be celebrating 100 years of community. The original school was opened as a four-room building in 1910 with an enrollment of 125 students. It was first known as Moss Street School. Over the years, the name changed, classrooms and annexes were added, and the original building became too small as the school population grew. In 1996, the Ministry of Education approved plans for our ‘new’ school, and we moved into the existing building and classrooms in January 1997. Our parents, staff, and students are very excited about celebrating the history and sharing the stories of 100 years of community.

We encourage a continuing line of communication between school and home. Working together, we hope that your child’s experiences at Sir James Douglas School will be enjoyable, exciting and rewarding. If you need further information about the school or its programs, please feel free to contact us at 250-382-7788.

We hope our parents, staff, and students find this new site useful. We will be asking for your input in ways to make the site better soon – stay tuned!
